My £1 bang bang cauliflower has all the familiar Chinese-style sweet and spicy flavours but is a delicious and healthy alternative to those expensive takeaways.
To make 1 portion
Ingredients
Handful of cauliflower florets
1 garlic clove, sliced
Pinch of dried chilli flakes
Sesame oil
¼ cup of passata
2 tbsp honey
Pinch of sesame seeds
½ spring onion, sliced
Salt and pepper
Method
Grab a saucepan, throw in the cauliflower florets, garlic and chilli flakes, season with salt and pepper, then fry in a splash of sesame oil over a medium heat.
Just before the garlic starts to brown, add the passata and honey.
Simmer for 5-10 minutes until the liquid reduces and sticks to the cauliflower, adding a tiny splash of water if the sauce gets too thick.
Once the cauliflower is soft, remove the pan from the heat and serve it with a sprinkle of sesame seeds, a drizzle of sesame oil and a garnish of sliced spring onion.
